Police blotter: Pharmacy worker steals over $800 in diet pills

A pharmacy tech admitted to having stolen hundreds of diet pills from her employer. The High School Road pharmacy estimates the woman took over $820 worth of pills.

Drunken crash: A Bainbridge male was arrested for drunk driving after he crashed into an unoccupied vehicle on Winslow Way shortly after 7:15 p.m. The suspect had been turning east from Ericksen Avenue when his SUV veered into the rear end of the parked vehicle. Police did not disclose information about the arrest, noting only that the suspect was stopped sometime after he left the crash scene.

Theft: A woman fled the Island Market gas station after filling her vehicle with over $50 worth of gas. Video surveillance showed both the suspect and her license plate. Police are investigating.

Vandalized: Ten stop signs at various locations were spray-painted with offensive words. The city did not have a damage estimate.

Drug theft: A Bainbridge woman was arrested for stealing prescription drugs from her employer, a pharmacy on High School Road. The suspect had been confronted and detained by her manager and a loss prevention investigator. The investigator told police that 100 appetite suppressant pills were missing and had not been given out through a prescription. The suspect, who works at the pharmacy as a prescription tech, admitted she’d been stealing and consuming the pills. She said she takes the pills in an effort to boost her energy. She also indicated she’d taken more than 200 pills. The pharmacy suspended the suspect and will likely fire her. Total losses for the pharmacy were estimated at $822.70.
