Not a whole lot happened this week. Some political signs were stolen, a drunk drove and a road rager raged. Read on…

Oct. 12
Theft: More than 30 political signs related to a local school bond were reported stolen from various locations around the island. Losses were estimated at $330.

Oct. 11
Smashed: The passenger side of a vehicle’s window was found smashed in by an ornamental stepping stone. The vehicle had been parked overnight on Winslow Way when the incident occurred. Damages were estimated at $200.

Theft: An Indianola resident reported that his wallet and cigarettes were stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked on Winslow Way between 7:15 p.m. and 8 p.m. The leather wallet, which has the name of the victim’s grandfather etched into it, is a family heirloom. The wallet contained identification and food stamps, but no cash.

Oct. 9
Drunk driving: A Bainbridge male was arrested for drunk driving on Highway 305 just after 10 p.m. Police pulled the suspect over after noticing his pickup truck repeatedly cross center and fog lines. The suspect smelled strongly of alcohol and had slurred speech. He admitted to consuming a “tall” beer and failed a series of field sobriety tests. He was transported to the county jail.

Oct. 5
Crash: A Bainbridge female lost control of her SUV and crashed after swerving to avoid a deer on Arrow Point Drive just before 6:30 p.m. Her SUV drove into a ditch and struck a tree, causing the vehicle’s rear end to swing back into the road. The driver reported “general pain” but no serious injuries.

Oct. 3
Road rage: Two Bainbridge drivers were involved in an argument on High School Road just before 12 p.m. in which threats were made. One of the drivers reacted angrily to the other for following his vehicle too closely. He reportedly threatening to “rip” the other driver’s head off and to force it into another part of his body.
A report was forwarded to the prosecutor’s office.

Oct. 2
Theft: A cell phone and iPod owned by a Seattle football player was stolen from a locker room at Bainbridge High School during a football game.

Sounds like a very sensitive man.

  2. His Mom Says:

My gosh! There are so many signs out there now, only the signs owners would notice them missing. And what’s up with those ‘Curves’ signs? More roadside blight.

  3. James M. Olsen Says:

Vote for Curves $99 for any of the wards. Also vote in Tex Stupid Signs for Council. Only on Our Island.
