A Bainbridge Island pilot was rescued from a plane after it crashed in Oregon on Monday.

The pilot, Kenneth Turpen, was found by a Coast Guard air crew and taken to a Portland hospital for treatment of serious but apparently non-life-threatening injuries.

A would-be thief managed to stuff his pockets with $125 worth of beads at a Winslow bead shop. Caught in the act, the bead bandit emptied his bulging pockets before escaping into the wilds of Waterfront Park. He’s still at large. Guard your baubles.
