American Marine Bank has hired a New York investment bank to help it recover the $20 million the Bainbridge-based bank lost in the first half of 2009.

Acting bank president Renzo Lucioni admitted that raising money during a recession will be difficult and expensive.

“I don’t think necessarily (that it) is going to be an easy thing,” he told Sun business reporter Rachel Pritchett.
