City officials are bracing islanders for the lean years ahead.
While open space purchases, bike lanes and the like top residents’ priority lists (according to survey after survey), the city is increasingly less able to deliver.

“Expect less” as a city motto. Hmmm !! Would that include less endless process navel-gazing from Council? Council spend hundreds of thousands of dollars in time/staff/broadcast costs to air their meetings. Perhaps as we learn to spell the new motto — EXPECT LESS — we can see Council demand that of their Council rap sessions. Less frills and keep it to the core missions.
