Bainbridge man charged with ‘indecent liberties’

September 2nd, 2008 by tristan baurick

A Bainbridge man was charged Friday by county prosecutors with indecent liberties following a party in which police believe he had non-consensual sex with an 18-year-old woman, according to documents filed in Kitsap County Superior Court.

Bryce W. Matthews, 22, is being held on $300,000 bail at the Kitsap County jail. He was arrested last week.

According to court documents, the 18-year-old was at a party at Matthews’ house Aug. 24 and passed out. When she awoke, she was partially naked in a bed, police said.

A friend of the 18-year-old also at the party came to the bedroom door and found it was locked. It was opened by Matthews, who was in the room naked with the 18-year-old, police said.

Police said the 18-year-old had refused Matthews’ advancements earlier in the party.

Officers served a search warrant at Matthews’ Hidden Cove Road home Tuesday. He was arrested and did not speak with police.
