Rose Bowl Report: Ducks Coug it against Ohio State

Remember back in September when University of Oregon Tailback Legarette Blount pulled a Ron Artest against Boise State, attacking opposing players, teammates and BSU fans? Blount was ‘suspended indefinitely,’ yet made his way back onto the team after making strides to improve his mental stability.
“Now it is up to me to prove to people that their lasting impressions of me are not what they saw in Boise,” Blount said after being reinstated.
I’ve said it before, his reinstatement was crap. I believe in second chances, but only if the penalty is served. Oregon brought him back only when the hysteria died down, saying that he was a changed man. They didn’t mention that Blount is a monster player that gave them a huge boost in their running game.
With Blount active in the Rose Bowl against Ohio State, Karma came back to bite the Ducks. While Blount did power in a TD, he coughed up a crucial fumble to the Buckeyes when trailing 17-19 in the 4th quarter. Instead points for the Ducks, OSU drove and scored, leading to the final count of 26-17.
Alas, the Oregon Ducks found a way to Coug it, as they failed to score the rest of the game. Props to the Oregon kicker as well, who missed a field goal in the fourth that would’ve kept them in it.
Here’s my lasting impression of Legarrette Blount: He’s a hot headed Oregon Duck that found a way to hand over a Rose Bowl to Ohio State, despite the fact that he shouldn’t have even been on the field. Cheers to you, Oregon. You’ve created this loss for yourself.
