Sebastien Le Toux headed to Philadelphia

November 25th, 2009 by nwsportsguy

Earlier today, the Philadelphia Union selected Sebastien Le Toux in the MLS expansion draft. Le Toux was one of the unprotected players on the Seattle roster. He was also the first player signed by the Sounders in their expansion and has been with the team since their USL days. Consequently, the Union are now on my sh*t list.

From what I understand, Sebastien was perfectly happy in Seattle. Who wouldn’t be? Seattle has the best soccer atmosphere and the best fans. He will, however, get more playing time in Philly. Sigh… We’ll miss you Seba.

Here are all of the Union’s picks (Thanks to Juan Romero of the Seattle Times):

Sebastien will be missed in Seattle. Many of us felt he should have started (over the lethargic Jaquaover machine), with Zakuani moving to forward with Montero. Whenever Sebastien stepped on the field, great things happened and with more energy and passion.

Sebastien–I thank you for another reason. You were one of the only players to ever come and talk to the fans, even jumping into the stands and agreeing to a picture with my son (11 year old who is going to England on tour in the Spring). We appreciate your kindness, your loyalty to the fans and your time to give back to the kids. You and my son are on our cell phone screen and on our computer wall paper.

And you taught him something else–when he hugged you, he couldn’t believe how RIPPED you were and what great shape you were in. He has been working harder on his conditioning ever since and we talk all the time about “how ripped” pro players are, and that came from you.

    Best wishes in Philly!

    Viva Le Toux!!!
